Your First Visit

Patient Forms

Upon entering our office, our receptionist will welcome you as a member of our family.  If at all possible, we request that you complete our Patient Health History forms located in the New Patient Center prior to arriving in the office. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition.  We have found that completing the forms prior to your visit takes the "rush" out of the visit and allows you to really focus and provide as detailed information as possible when you are completing them.

Consultation

Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Anderson to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for Dr. Anderson and our team to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how Chiropractic care can meet your goals. We would like to extend a complimentary sit down consultation with anyone that has an interest in learning more about how Chiropractic care can help achieve numerous health goals.

 Examination

After your consultation, we will perform a complete Chiropractic examination testing your muscle strength and flexibility. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.

We will analyze all aspects of your health in our initial exam utilizing some of the most technologically advanced equipment and diagnostic testing.  One of our main goals with these tests is to detect areas of spinal misalignment or vertebral subluxation which we will analyze in correlation with your individual symptomology.   Our Examination consists of a thorough spinal and nervous system exam and will include several components.

The first part of this examination process may involve a nerve function scan also known as a thermal scan.  This technology was developed by NASA to analyze overall nervous system health, or the lack thereof, in its astronauts!  Using this highly advance tool, readings will be taken that detect heat differences from one level of the spine to another, as well as from one side of the spine to the other. Heat is a byproduct of circulation, which is controlled by the autonomic nervous system. From readings, we can see how spinal misalignments may be affecting the functions of your nervous system.

If indicated, a second part of this scan may be performed.  It will evaluate surface electrical impulses and measure them along your spine. This test helps measure the effect of misalignment or subluxation on the motor nerve system and the affect that spinal misalignments or subluxations may be having on your muscles.

The importance of each of these tests will be explained to you at your Report of Findings. However, it is important to note that this examination enables Dr. Anderson to determine how the subluxation present within your spine may be affecting your overall health.  It also gives us a baseline for future tests so we can accurately measure your progress to see how the correction is progressing and how your nervous system is functioning. Using these examination procedures is much more accurate than just relying on "how you feel" on any given day.

Dr Anderson utilizes the most modern Chiropractic analytical and adjustive procedures and equipment available. We consider vertebral subluxations to be a serious threat to the quality and quantity of your health and that of your family. It is therefore imperative that we utilize the most modern, and the well established time-proven procedures to help you. We feel you're worth it!

X-Ray Studies

Another diagnostic tool utilized is Spinal X-rays.  They may be taken depending on your age, and situation. There are many reasons why we would not take x-rays on certain patients including pregnancy, most children, recent usable spinal x-rays and some other various situations. Aside from these situations, X-rays are a common part of the examination process when looking for vertebral subluxations.  X-rays help us develop the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert us of any serious spinal conditions.  X-rays also tell us the relative length of time subluxations may have been present in your spine. Most people are amazed once they see their X-rays up close. In some cases, they can even identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves.

  Treatment

At the conclusion of this initial  appointment, the doctor wil provide treatment to you  in relation to your symptoms.  We understand that most people who come to see Dr. Anderson are in pain and want relief immediately.  You will receive any symptom relief care needed to help reduce your symptoms on your first visit.  Rest assured, everything that can be done will be done to help you feel better before you leave our office. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapy, and/or soft tissue massage.  Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment anytime.

 Before You Leave

You will be scheduled for your Report of Findings within a few days of your initial visit. This visit is your most important visit and may take up to one hour. It is at your Report of Findings that we will review the test results and Dr Anderson will share with you his analysis of your condition.  We have set aside specific times for these visits so as not to interfere with regular patient care hours. Our staff will schedule your Report of Findings with you after your first visit.

  Report of Findings

The information gathered on your first visit will allow Dr. Anderson to make an accurate assessment of your overall health.  He will determine if you are a candidate for chiropractic care and if so, the type of adjustments best suited for your conditions as well as the ongoing frequency of your care. During your Report of Findings, Dr. Anderson will review your X-rays and Nervous System Scan results, answer any questions you might have, and give you a plan of action that will offer you the best treatment options for your condition.  He will also go over any special instructions you will need to obtain the best and fastest possible results.

At the end of this visit, you will feel confident of the answers to the following questions:

  1. How can you help me?
  2. How often do I need to come in?
  3. What will my treatment cost?

 Wellness Program

Prior to leaving, the doctor will suggest a  wellness program  to incorporate outside of treatment.  If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include: ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches.  If you desire,  our wellness team will work with you also to create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle.  Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a  customized wellness plan.  The purpose  of our wellness program is for   you  to achieve good spinal alignment, have a  healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state.
